"A Lasting Vision"
Dear friends,
I am so excited about this 110th Anniversary Celebration for many reasons. Stoddard's history and mission is a celebration of caring, it is a celebration of love and of life. It is a victory for those that, for many years, would not have received the care that all human beings desire and the respect and dignity they deserve. We have been a safe haven for many that did not have a home or place of refuge and security.
I am excited about the pure number of human lives we have touched over these 110 years - be it residents, families, employees, volunteers and the greater community. Stoddard Baptist Home gives a living witness to the awesome possibility of God's unceasing love for all of us. Many great leaders have carried the torch of God's love throughout Stoddard's history. As we are so reminded, this great facility (if we continue the example they set) will be here for any of us and our families in time of need.
Many may not be aware that my family has been involved with Stoddard for many years. My great-grandmother, Emma Davis, encouraged all of her children and grandchildren to volunteer and collect "pennies for Stoddard" as my Aunt Janet so frequently reminds me. Several of my great-aunts worked in the Nursing and Dietary Departments for many years. Therefore, as the leader of this great organization, I am reminded of our humble beginnings and celebrate those great things that God has done to carry Stoddard Baptist Home to its current heights!
